We are practitioners. We are not scientists, but dive instructors, divers or coastal people who have seen marine ecosystems suffering and being destroyed or coastal areas full of garbage in our daily work. We are dedicated to what we love and simply went into action.
We are on the ground and familiar with local conditions. We work closely with the local community to ensure a long-term and sustainable impact.
THE BOARD
Our methods are hands-on and tangible. And so are our board members.
I Komang Nuriada was born in Padangbai and studied food science, law and English literature at various universities in Denpasar. As a chairman and board member of several universities and social organizations, Komang Nuriada also held the office of spiritual leader in Padangbai. In his function as Bendesa and chairman of the traditional village council of Manggis, he takes care of the observance of Balinese customs as well as the holistic village structure. His focus is the sustainable improvement of the living conditions of the local community and the protection of the environment. Due to his comprehensive connections to government agencies, Komang is in the ideal position to carry our matters to the right places. Komang lives Padangbai with his charming family and is characterized by the fact that everything he does is done with a lot of heart, honesty, and openness.
Steven Binoto was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia. He studied art at Maranatha Christian University and began his career in IT technology, keeping his head above water for nearly 10 years by working in the hustle and bustle of the city. Through his extensive knowledge and network, he eventually decided to look outside his comfort zone and fell in love with the extraordinarily beautiful nature of Bali. In an effort to do something for nature,
he decided to join Livingseas Asia in an advisory capacity and became a co-founder of the Foundation. Steven's goal is to show people that even if you are not a diver, you can still be active in the underwater world and contribute to the conservation of Indonesia's natural resources.
Leon Boey, born in Singapore, is an accomplished scuba instructor and the founder of the dive education centre Livingseas Asia, with bases in both Singapore and Bali. Diving since 2005, he loves being surrounded by fish. Having dived many places and seen firsthand the gradual degradation of the reef, he started to take a more serious approach towards conservation and became one of the first ocean conservationists here in Bali. Conservation has become Leon’s mission and thus one of the core values of Livingseas Asia through the creation of multiple coral reef rehabilitation projects in Jakarta, Bali, and Lombok, along with a sustainable approach to dive operations and education. Leon's knowledge of corals and marine ecosystems is immense and the way he approaches and implements his vision is unparalleled.
I Nengah Madiasa was born and raised in Padang Bai, Bali and is deeply rooted in village life and structures. As the cultural liaison at Livingseas Asia, he communicates with all the offices and people responsible for the projects and
makes sure that everything runs smoothly. Although he is not a diver, Nengah, as a coastal person and religious village member closely connected to the ocean, implicitly understands the importance of oceans as the source of life.
Albert Tamin was born in Jakarta and has been living and working as an SSI diving instructor with Livingseas Asia for 3 years. Albert studied communication and advertising at Tarumanagara University in Jakarta. His passion for the ocean and the underwater world, as well as his strong sustainability mindset, led him to not only discuss conservation efforts, but to take direct action himself. As a dedicated diver and instructor, his passion is the regeneration of marine ecosystems and the dissemination of this idea to the general public.
I Komang Ariana, born and raised in Antiga, Bali, is the all-rounder of Livingseas Asia. Komang is not only responsible for reef star production, he is also the in-house craftsman and boat assistant. His connections go far and although he is not an active dive professional, his knowledge of corals, how to grow them and how to build the necessary steel structures is extensive. Komang is focused on sustainability and can convey this in an excellent way to the local community.
Livingseas Foundation is represented by Yayasan Lestari Biru Livingseas, Indonesia. Yayasan Lestari Biru Livingseas is an independent foundation established under the laws of The Republic of Indonesia, registration number of 0504230012034.

THE FINE PRINT
The Foundation is managed by its Board of Directors. The Board may delegate the management of the activities of the Foundation to any other person provided that the activities and affairs are managed under the ultimate direction of the Board.
The members of the Board are not entitled to remuneration. They are, however, entitled to ask for reimbursement of reasonable costs, such as travel expenses.
